Adventures of the Potato Ricer

I was talking to my mom last week, and she said she bought a potato ricer to do the mashed potatoes. I was like.. wuh??? She saw it on some TV show. This thanksgiving i was in charge of the mashed potatoes, and i would consider myself an amateur mashed potato connoisseur, so i ran out to the nearest BBB. I had to ask the guy for help because i had no idea what a potato ricer would look like.

My roomate took care of the turkey, gravy, etc. I had some extra free time, so i decided to make twice baked potatoes. They were a favorite of mine that my grandma used to make. I baked the potatoes , scooped out the inside, then got out the ricer. I must say the ricer rules! 1 - it's fun and a workout! 2 - fabulous mashed potatoes. I mixed in some heavy cream , butter, salt etc... mmmmmmmmmm. Sorry i didn't get an in action photo for u of the ricer, but cooking is down & dirty work sometimes, and i wasn't going to touch my new camera. I am a little disappointed with the twice bakededness. My gram's were better, next time i may go straight mashed.

I also made deviled eggs, with a new twist: horseradish. I liked it, but next time i'll use a little less than the recipe specified.

p.s. i feel like a stuffed turkey!

Before i start with your surprise, let me tell ya what i'm working on. I really want my angeleno section, to go left , right , left , right... get it. unfortunately it's going to take a little work, i need to get down & dirty.... i need to work with the widgets'! why do i want this u ask? don't ask.. i don't know.. but i'm not quite liking them all on the right, they stick out. Some other things i want to get set for my blog.. Text seems a little big, i need to work on that.. and the layout from last time. Picture next to words thats not working for me.

it's approx: 2:30 pm.. time for a break, going to see Dali at LACMA.

Ok, .. well i give up. If only for tonight too tired to look at any more code, and widget manipulation is more complicated than i was thinking. But i won't be defeated! one day you will see them go left, right , left.... etc.
Anyway I'll leave ya with this....

Dinner Sunday night...

So i got a new camera, (for Costa Rica in Dec.. Yay! ), and after realizing that most of my friends blog.. and i was the lone, sans blogger... i knew what i must do.. time to start blogging. My dinners wouldn't normally look like this: Broccoli florets delicately arranged like stonehenge around the main dish, but the blog idea had already spawned. I had to step up.

Pretty cool the camera captured the steam like that, i love this camera!

Ok, so here was the meal.. I'll call it: Winter chicken surprise! ... I marinated some chicken, in red wine (Cabernet souveniegn (i should probably learn to spell)), and spices, a dash of chili pepper to spice it up. My base: Trader Joe's marina sauce base, i heated on low for a while, added some chopped up chicken sausage, to give it a bit more flavor & some Italian seasoning. Cooked the chicken in the frying pan, then added the sauce and let simmer, warmed the veggies then added them too. Then all went over, some whole wheat flax pasta on my plate.

Wow... my first blog. This isn't as bad as i thought! maybe i'll keep it up.

(the thing you don't know... most of my more "designer" meals.. looked generally like this.. change the meat, change the veggies add some sauce.... now i'm going to have to get more creative! )
