I was talking to my mom last week, and she said she bought a potato ricer to do the mashed potatoes. I was like.. wuh??? She saw it on some TV show. This thanksgiving i was in charge of the mashed potatoes, and i would consider myself an amateur mashed potato connoisseur, so i ran out to the nearest BBB. I had to ask the guy for help because i had no idea what a potato ricer would look like.
My roomate took care of the turkey, gravy, etc. I had some extra free time, so i decided to make twice baked potatoes. They were a favorite of mine that my grandma used to make. I baked the potatoes , scooped out the inside, then got out the ricer. I must say the ricer rules! 1 - it's fun and a workout! 2 - fabulous mashed potatoes. I mixed in some heavy cream , butter, salt etc... mmmmmmmmmm. Sorry i didn't get an in action photo for u of the ricer, but cooking is down & dirty work sometimes, and i wasn't going to touch my new camera. I am a little disappointed with the twice bakededness. My gram's were better, next time i may go straight mashed.
I also made deviled eggs, with a new twist: horseradish. I liked it, but next time i'll use a little less than the recipe specified.
p.s. i feel like a stuffed turkey!

Oooh, potato ricer. They're lots of fun. I think Mom currently has custody of mine. It's something. like the fish lifter, that Tim doesn't quite understand...
Potato ricer are not my thing. Actually potatoes in general have no benefit for me. But the deviled eggs look really good. Horseradish? That's new...
